I had never been to Sauk Small Animal Hospital before this, and was not only impressed with their service, but the personal phone follow-up as well.
I highly recommend Dr. Abby.
I feel that my dog received excellent care, the people are friendly, and the facility is very nice. There was a small miscommunication that caused me to not have quite enough of a medication that was prescribed, I think it was just a misprinted label on the pill bottle, and when I came back and brought it to the doctor's attention, they gave me a few extra pills to ensure we could go the full course. They did not charge for this. That was completely unnecessary, I would have paid whatever the additional pills cost without a second thought, but it was an extremely nice thing to do. This is the kind of practice that builds loyalty. We will be back!
I have been taking my dogs (2) here for over 10 years. They are organized, friendly, responsive to urgent situations, professional and clearly and sincerely care about providing good care to animals. The UW Animal hospital recommended them to me when one of my dogs had emergency surgery there 11 years ago. As a final note - I LOVE watching the snake and iguana in the lobby while waiting.
About a week later, at a time when I was paralyzed with sorrow, I received a condolence card from Dr. Abby, which included a personal message. Her kind and emphatic words touched my heart at a time when I needed them badly.
Apparently UW communicated with Sauk Small Animal Hospital of Mini's passing.
Sadly, my girl did not survive.
They immediately took her in, and Dr. Abby diagnosed heart failure. She thoroughly explained my dog's condition along with diagrams and prescribed medications.
Unfortunately, my Mini took a terrible turn for the worse 3 weeks later. This time we were in Madison, so I rushed her to UW Vetinary Clinic; again a facility I had never used in the past. When we arrived, my girl was rushed to an oxygen cage and IV was administered.
Dr. Erica and Sam were wonderful with Hank from start to finish! This is our first time having a puppy in a long time for both of us, and it's very confusing trying to remember everything about vaccination schedules and training such a small pup. The staff here are amazing, willing to answer any question and help us get Hank off to a great start in life. Dr. Erica herself took Hank to go potty while I was finishing up paper work, and even though it's a small gesture, I thought that was very nice and I appreciated it a bunch! Thank you to everyone who helped out with Hank, my boyfriend and I agree that he's in excellent hands here!
It is obvious to me that Dr. Abby and Sauk Small Animal Hospital truly care about their patients and are empathetic to the pet parents.
While visiting family near Prarie du Sac, my dog unexpectedly woke up with labored breathing. I rushed her to Sauk Small Animal Hospital.
We have brought our small dog to Shamrock Pet Resort for day care for the past three years. He really loves the staff and enjoys his time at Shamrock. Best of all, he comes home tired. We appreciate that he has a warm place to play in the winter.
The next day I got a personal call from Dr. Abby inquiring about Mini' s response to the treatment. (Happily, she was doing so well, one would never know that she had been in a life-threatening situation the day before)
